Japadog and Culture Crawl

Lovely combination on a nice weather Saturday despite it being a bit cold!

So today I wanted to check out Eastside Culture Crawl, as a friend of mine is involved in it. At the same time, hubs took me to downtown to have Japadog for lunch ^^/! (I love hot dogs!)

Japadogs are actually served at a hotdog stand, with some Japan-style toppings. Extremely delicious, definitely worth waiting and eating in the cold! LOL!

This time I tried Terimayo (beef dog and teriyaki sauce, japanese mayonnaise and seaweed strips, I think there was optional onion too ^^)

They have a new flavor which is Okonomi :D I guess the inspiration was from Okonomiyaki. It was soooo darn good! Please check out their website at japadog.com for more information!

So next stop after filling our bellies, the Eastside Culture Crawl, it show cases some crafts and art, and my friend was showing her art prints and she has her lovely doll collection and sewing on display as well :)

Kid at heart

Got word from Bro in law that Burger king has a rather cute toy with the kids meal, so I badgered hubs to go with me to get a couple :P

Cute packaging! ^^ the box itse’f comes with some cardboard bits to “dress up” the mini toy inside for halloween ^^

As you can see on the box, there’s 3 more other characters, but we opted to get the white doggie :P Maybe I should have gotten a pink doggie too bit oh well too late lol

With it’s ears upright it’s about 3 inches tall ^^ if you press the nose, the face would lit up, but the light doesn’t stay on or flash lol But I guess that’s what you get for a “freebie” :P Also noticed that the “face” of the dog has fine scratches on it for some strange reason ^^; But overall it’s pretty cute ^^

Autumn is one of me and my husband’s favourite season, the colours of autumn is just amazing, and we’re glad to capture some of it digitally again this year :)

We had visitors on Sunday :P Uchi hung out with Jessie a little bit :P At first Uchi stayed very still, so I could take a few pictures of him but I guess after a while Uchi kinda got used to Jessie smelling at him so he started being himself — moving around :P

Flowers from the weekend before started wilting ^^; but have a different kind of beauty no?

Finally I end with a pretty food pictures :P

Sunday evening we had baked chicken mid wing ^^ It was delicious!

Must remember it is baked at 400 degree F, for about 30-35mins :P

Organic strawberries ^O^ The lovely thing about organic strawberries is that they taste sweet + tangy :3 very nice with chocolate ^O^

Hub’s co-worker/friend invited us to go to his place to cut some end of season flowers, even tho it was raining quite a bit I’m so glad we went (we got all wet and a bit muddy but it was quite an experience!)

See how huge some of the blooms are O_O here’s a comparison of a giant to my husband’s head :P

That red bloom is so huge, I had to put it in one low and flat container ^^;

Unfortunately I didn’t take any pix of the actual place we were cutting the flowers from due to rather heavy rain, but when we got home, after arranging the flowers I took some pix ^^

We had a couple out of town relatives and one night we went out with them and our family to dinner. Tried this restaurant for the first time, food is not bad but recently we were told that there was either a miscommunication or a mischarge to a shared order - they charged a half order price on the plate one of the couples wanted to share O_o. So what happened was the server may have suggested half order when they said they wanted to share, but did not explain that half orders a lot more. Think one dish $25, 2 half orders $20 each! (??!!!)

So even if the food is good, may think twice before going again ^^;

La Terrazza is a lot steeper than the other place we went to to celebrate bro in law’s birthday.

Nice interior set up, we were in a more private-ish room with few tables so we could talk without having to shout over other tables. Lighting was dim so my camera couldn’t take very sharp pictures ^^;

Super large wine selection, like a thick book, good wine tho this one, very fragrant, I did not try it but my hubs liked it enough to take a picture as a record:

Buffalo mozerella cheese salad the cheese tasted very mild, almost like tofu consistency, very delish ^^

I did not eat this, I think it’s a seafood salad of sorts?

This dish was a bit too salty for those of us who ordered (not entirely their fault me thinks) The cheeses used are rather sharp as explained later on, by our server.

Took this picture a bit far from the actual dish so it turned out like even worse webcam quality :P Sorry about that (and about the general bad picture quality) but well it’s duckbreast lol

Our replacement pasta, very very good, I’m normally not a big eater of shrimp but I ate quite a bit, so did my husband (we shared off the same plate)

Had lunch at Barefoot kitchen on Sunday afternoon :3 cute place, unfortunately could smell people smoking from outside tho ^^;

Brought a doll with me, but unfortunately didn’t take too many pix of her ^^; this made a cute picture tho :) I’ll probably post doll pix on my other site at puppy52doll.com ^^

Think this is the hamburger patty steak, the servings look bigger in pix :P it was interesting tho ^^ it came with a seaweed soup.

Husband got this order below, quite tasty but a bit fatty. I think I picked a wrong choice for food so not gonna show the picture here lol

Their sundae was great tho ^^ we got greentea sundae, the ice cream was packed to the max, with red bean paste and bits of mochi, strawberry and a couple pocky sticks + whipped cream ^^

went to the last day of Krazy exhibition at Art Gallery down town

Think we went to Silver Tower (decided to give it a 2nd chance, went there before when it just opened but at the time it didn’t meet our expectations ^^;) late that evening for ~~greasy~~ dinner.

Went to Correlis Restaurant at Steveston ^^

Upon entering the restaurant, U’ll see the Bar on the right hand side ^^

Appetizers (came in dinner set): Romaine greens salad

Cold plate, pork loin slices, it was tasty (and sinful :P) thankfully we shared ^^;

Pork dish + mushroom sauce, veggies and potatos, very filling ^^; but yum ^^

This pasta dish is full of Olives lol I didn’t eat much of it ^^; apparently my hubs found it quite sour.

Birthday boy and his wife ordered a chicken dish, I didn’t try it so I dunno how it was lol

Dessert Ice cream, unfortunately the description sounded fancier than the looks :P

Tiramisu was kinda soggy =_= and liquid (not rum) accumulated at the bottom since it was served in a cup :O (apparently if it was served on a plate it probably won’t happen)

Overall, it was tasty, their in house bread before dinner was served was very good, soft inside and crust was thin and crunchy ^^

Quite surprised to see strawberries in a patch as well, these days seems that blueberries is in season, I had a blueberry pie earlier sunday afternoon and it was delicious!

We had “all you can eat” sushi at Kingsway Sushi ^^; Overall it was pretty tasty for an all you can eat place, and food comes pretty fast and served warm for the most part ^O^
